moving on

things have changed dramatically ever since year 2011 has started. sometimes i wonder what makes me changed my goals. disappointment? despair? i know that things will never be the same again no matter how hard i have tried to salvage it.

i have left the student council, the place where i have placed all my hopes. yes i am emotional and is real bad at hiding things or expressions. from my facial expression, you will know when things go wrong. i know this is bad. but it beats being a hypocrite. i have to admit, there were great moments and wonderful times during this 1.5 years.

shortly, a similar concept to council appears, AIESEC (in short, @). i decided to give it a go, to pick up where i have fallen. i was allocated to the talent management department (something like HR). surprisingly, my VP TM, landa has similar qualities and charisma to my events head, kaili. the moment i saw her, memories came alive. perhaps its fate.

one good thing about @ is that it bonds all the @-ers in NUS, NTU, SMU, SIM and @-ers internationally. i went to the conference and it was astonishing. they had mass dances. they had delegates from all over the world joining this conference. we had speakers from Fish N Co, Butter Factory, 3M etc to give us insights on how to improve ourselves in many aspects. we also had case challenge whereby we analyzed the current situation of certain companies, then developed solutions and presented to the respective company HR team. i was allocated to PwC while some of my friends were with Fish N Co and Young NTUC. 2 of my team members were from my LC (local chapter - means SIM @-ers), 1 from indo and another from japan! though we didn't win it, we gained valuable insights.

soon after, there came PBoX (Project Based on eXchange). after being induced to run for the positions, i was selected to be VP Events for PBoX. thankfully, my good friends were in the team as well. we soon started on doing proposals, having meetings and meeting corporates. this is when i missed council. perhaps LCsim is new, hence there isn't a system to follow. whereas council has been established for a long while. there are good and bad points in both though. but since i have chosen to be with @, i need to learn to adapt.

things were getting more challenging as everyone of us were moving towards project seasons and soon, exams. i had a huge mental breakdown then. it was too much to handle. problems were addressed and solutions were suggested. however, exam dates were pressing hard on us. the OC (organizing committee) hence decided to complete whatever we were needed to, before taking a break from @ for exams.

and now, exams are over for all of us. a lot of things are still in the gray area and yet to be cleared. this hints for a busy holiday season.
